Roki Sasaki's night ended after he walked the leadoff hitter in the 5th inning. Then Anthony Banda loaded the bases and surrendered a game-tying grand slam to Lourdes Gurriel Jr. Sasaki's final line: 4+ innings, 5 runs, 5 hits, 2 walks. He did not strike out a batter.

Through three innings (and about 2 1/2 times through the order), every Dodger has picked up a hit or reached base at least once. They scored five runs in the third to chase D-backs starter Eduardo Rodriguez, and Roki Sasaki is back on the mound with an 8-3 lead.

Roki Sasaki served up two home runs in the first inning, both on his fastball. He's given up a homer in five straight starts, and today marks the first time he's allowed multiple in one game.

Other injury updates from Dave Roberts: -Tommy Edman and Teoscar Hernández will take live ABs next homestand. Edman is still feeling some discomfort in his ankle while running, and Hernández is hitting in the cage today. -Michael Kopech's next rehab outing will be Sunday.

Evan Phillips ended up getting an MRI that showed inflammation in his elbow, per Dave Roberts. It will be a couple weeks before Phillips resumes throwing, so he won't be back when his 15 days are up as the team had initially hoped.

Dave Roberts said he expects Michael Kopech to make at least 4-5 rehab outings, "and then it's a real conversation." Maybe not quite a 1:1 comparison, but Evan Phillips also had to fully build up and ended up doing 6 rehab outings (would've been 7 if not for Treinen injury).

Emmet Sheehan has been facing hitters, including Tommy Edman today, per Dave Roberts. Roberts doesn't know when Sheehan could begin a rehab assignment, but "he's getting close." He threw around 40 pitches today and will be built up as a starter.

Both Dave Roberts and Evan Phillips view the IL move as precautionary. Phillips said he's recently felt soreness in between outings, but not while he's pitching. The hope is that he'll be back when the 15 days are up.

Dave Roberts earlier, on whether Sauer would be activated: "Potentially. Guys have been used a lot and obviously we’re trying to manage their workload and make sure there’s no smoke. There’s a couple guys that we’re just trying to make sure they’re in a good spot."

The Dodgers recalled RHP Matt Sauer and placed RHP Evan Phillips on the injured list with right forearm discomfort.

Other injury/misc. updates from Dave Roberts: -Blake Snell and Tyler Glasnow are expected to begin playing catch on Friday. -Matt Sauer is here on taxi squad. He was optioned less than 15 days ago and can't be recalled unless someone goes on the IL.

Roberts sounded much more optimistic about Hernández today. He said he's hopeful that Hernández will return in two weeks.

Teoscar Hernández's MRI showed a Grade 1 adductor strain, per Dave Roberts: "Obviously, he's going to be inactive for a while. I don't really know a timetable. I think that's all contingent on when he starts back up again."

Dave Roberts said Kershaw's next rehab start will be Sunday with Triple-A OKC, and it could be his last one before being activated from the 60-day IL. He got up to around 80 pitches yesterday in the ACL, including some throwing in the bullpen after he was out of the game.
