91.7 ABC Gold Coast (ACMA callsign: 4ABCRR) is a local radio station part of the ABC network. It is located in Mermaid Beach and serves listeners in the Gold Coast area and the nearby hinterland in Queensland, reaching as far south as Byron Bay in New South Wales. The station began its journey in 1952 under the name 4SO, initially functioning as a relay for the ABC Regional Network from Toowoomba. It originally broadcasted on a frequency of 1590 kHz, which was later adjusted to 1593 kHz in 1978 to align with the updated 9 kHz frequency spacing.
