CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Chubby Checker certainly has a history with the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame -- even before his first nomination and induction were announced this year. The man who’s been doing “The Twist” since 1960 had been eligible since the year of the first induction ceremony in 1986, and in 2002 famously protested outside of the Rock Hall museum in Cleveland over a lack of contemporary airplay for “The Twist” and his 15 other Billboard Top 20 hits, as well as being excluded from the hall.
