Denise Aaron remains in hospital more than a week after the accident near Faversham Recreation Ground, which left her needing surgery on her fractured femur.     Well-advanced talks could see part of a former department store converted into a specialist medical unit designed to take the pressure off a hospital. The old Debenhams in Chatham High Street is currently undergoing a £730,000 revamp after being left empty since January 2020. It is hoped the ground floor will be converted into an elective care centre, freeing up space and reducing waiting lists at Medway Maritime in Gillingham.

    Footage has captured the moment a car ploughed into a unit at a business park - right in front of police. Officers had been called to the John Wilson estate in Chestfield, Whitstable, following reports of a disturbance. A video shows a man getting into a car parked in front of a unit which appears to belong to a local biker group called Rejects Brotherhood. The vehicle then reverses, before being driven through the shutters - just yards from a police patrol car called to the scene.

    The opening date for a swanky new-style bar and restaurant at an out-of-town shopping centre has been announced. Sotto Lounge will be welcoming customers at its latest “home from home” venue at Dockside, Chatham, from May 26, Bank Holiday Monday. Part of Loungers, a rapidly growing hospitality group founded in the West Country, it’s described as having a “home-from-home” ambience.
