On the road less traveled, this Mets minor leaguer is raising eyebrows in the minors with his sheer dominance. David Stearns gets a lot of credit for his under-the-radar roster additions. Jacob deGrom who? When Jacob deGrom left the New York Mets after the 2022 season, the immediate task at hand was to replace him in the starting rotation. The Mets made the most obvious pivot by signing Justin Verlander. While it didn’t go so well for the team, there aren’t really any hard feelings. Departing Free agents rarely offer much of a reward especially when they are as beloved as deGrom.
