'Stokey', with its bars, cafes and restaurants, independent shops and galleries, was named as one of best places to live in London in 2025 by The Sunday Times. This paper went to find out if the people who live and work there agreed. Most did - but one or two had misgivings.

Police were called to a stabbing in Longhill Road (Image: Google) A man in Hackney has been arrested after a stabbing in Catford. Police were called to Longhill Road, near Forster Park in south east London, at 6.30pm on Friday (April 4) following reports of an altercation between two men. At the scene, a man in his 30s was found with stab wounds. He was taken to hospital, where his injuries have been assessed as non-life-changing and non-life-threatening.
