For fans of the bald eagles affectionately known as ‘Nick and Nora’, there’s now a livestream available to keep up with the raptor family’s progress. As we previously reported, our area’s bald eagle residents hatched two new eaglets sometime in mid-March. The news came as a relief to many neighbors, as the pair has previously experienced difficulties with past clutches.

After 15 different tests and mixing 10 cans of paint last spring, Jeff Bekavac and Austin Rodgers finally found “Goodwins Green.”The dark, moody hue adorns the exterior of the pair’s critically acclaimed restaurant, Goodwins, on Greenville, which opened in May after months of anticipation. White molding and marble slabs liven the demure tone, while a large LED sign bearing the restaurant’s name in bright golden letters invites neighbors through its double bistro doors.

From the front, Sunshine Miniature Trees is unassuming. A small yellow house at the end of a gravel driveway. Downtown Neiman Marcus will hold on through the holidays

Neiman Marcus’ historic Downtown Dallas location will stay open through the 2025 holiday season, according to an announcement by Saks Global this morning. The Zodiac Room and the Bridal Salon will also remain open. Saks Global, the parent company of Neiman Marcus, said that they are working with City of Dallas officials to discuss the potential for a “new, innovative format to serve its customers and the community while supporting the resurgence of Downtown Dallas.”What will this look like?
Wilshire Baptist gearing up for new musical production

Wilshire Baptist Church is preparing for the next installment of its Faith in 3D theatre program, In Songs and Stories, set to premier next week. Set to premiere at 6 p.m. on March 26 in Wilshire’s sanctuary, the show will be the eleventh installment of the church’s 3D drama series, which has run annually since 2015. There will be a second matinee showing at 2:30 p.m. on March 29.

Lochland’s gearing up for St. Patrick’s Day

With St. Patrick’s Day coming up, local Irish pub Lochland’s is getting ready to host its annual festivities with dancing, music, corned beef and more. While the actual feast day of St. Patrick falls on Monday this year, Lochland’s will celebrate on Saturday in addition to Monday, as will many Dallasites with the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival scheduled for Saturday. The pub will open at 9 a.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. on Monday, and there is a $10 cover charge to enter.
Dallas Arboretum website features tracker for spring blooms

Want to know how the blooms are doing at the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden? Luckily enough, the Arboretum has a helpful tool designed to let people know what is in bloom and when. The Arboretum’s annual floral festival, Dallas Blooms, kicked off on Feb. 22. With a theme of “Outside of the Ordinary,” the Southwest’s largest floral festival will see over 500,000 flowers bloom throughout its run, which ends on April 13.
Dallas Children’s Theater names new artistic director

The Dallas Children’s Theater has announced Emily Ernst as its new artistic director ahead of the 2025-26 season. According to a release, Ernst was selected after a nationwide search which began in September after the announcement of outgoing Artistic Director Artie Olaisen’s retirement. Ernst has previously worked in the performing arts in Dallas, New York, Tennessee and Nebraska.
Arrest made in Ferguson Road shooting

Dallas Police are investigating a murder after a Sunday night shooting left one dead and one wounded in East Dallas. According to Police, officers responded to a shooting call in the 7800 block of Ferguson Road at about 6:20 p.m. on March 2. In their initial investigation, officers determined that 39-year-old Arvey Cruz Ortega and another individual had been shot at the scene. The other victim was treated and released, but Ortega died at the scene, DPD says.
