RTL France

RTL is a commercial radio network in France, owned by the RTL Group. It started in 1933 as Radio Luxembourg and was initially based outside of France, only moving to local broadcasting in 1981 when private radio stations were permitted. Up until 2022, RTL was also available on long wave frequency 234 KHz from Beidweiler, allowing it to reach a wide audience across much of Europe. Additionally, RTL has a sister station named Bel RTL, which caters specifically to the French-speaking community in Belgium. As of 2018, RTL holds the title of France's most popular radio station, with an average of 6.4 million listeners tuning in each day.
