Radio France Internationale, commonly known as RFI, is a public radio service based in France that broadcasts from Paris to audiences around the globe. In 2008, it reached an impressive audience of 35.6 million listeners, making it one of the leading international radio stations, alongside the BBC World Service, Voice of America, and Deutsche Welle. RFI operates 24 hours a day, offering programming in French as well as 12 other languages. Its broadcasts can be accessed via FM, shortwave, medium wave, cable, the Worldspace platform, and online at rfi.fr. RFI is part of the state-owned company France Médias Monde, which also includes France24 and MCD.
