A mum says she “thought she was going to die” after nearly drowning along with her partner during a terrifying incident at a beach in East Lothian. Kerry O’Hara and Lewis Patchatt were swept out to sea by powerful currents and left fighting for their lives on a family day out to Tyninghame Beach in Dubar on Saturday, May 24. The 38-year-old mum said they were convinced they were going to die before being saved by a hero surfer who spotted the pair.

A man has been charged with attempted murder after a gang war-linked house blaze last month. Owen Martin was arrested in connection with torching a home on Drumchapel Road at an address in Glasgow on May 29 following a police raid. The 20-year-old appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court charged with wilful fire-raising and attempted murder. He made no plea and was remanded in custody. His next appearance has not been confirmed.

Two people have been taken to hospital after a bus mounted the pavement and crashed in Renfrewshire. Police, ambulance and fire crews were called to Craigton Drive in Dargavel Village in Bishopton around 2.40pm on Friday. Images from the scene showed a McGills bus that had mounted the pavement and crashed. The bus company confirmed one passenger and the driver have been taken to hospital for further examination.
