The Newnan Times-Herald
The Newnan Times-Herald, often referred to simply as The Times-Herald, is a newspaper based in Newnan, Georgia. Established in 1865, it holds the distinction of being the longest-running news outlet in both Newnan and Coweta County. Serving as a local newspaper and the official legal publication for the area, it is situated approximately 30 miles south of Atlanta. Notably, on July 22, 1972, the Newnan Times-Herald was honored with an award for "excellence in typography" from the National Newspaper Association.

On Monday, at a very brief work session – about 5 minutes – Grantville City Council members heard that Cornerstone Rentals requested a rezoning for property at 45 Grady Smith Road. Cornerstone previously requested and received a rezoning for property that once held a number of mobile homes. It plans to build rental properties on the now empty lots at 96 and 112 Arnold Street. The Grady Smith Road property is currently zoned R-20, single-family residential.

A Newnan woman was arrested last week after authorities say she was selling alcohol without a license from her residence on Fairmount Drive. Cora Smith Cook, 81, was charged with violating Georgia law O.C.G.A. 3-3-3, which prohibits the unlicensed sale of alcoholic beverages, according to jail records. The Coweta County Sheriff’s Office said investigators were patrolling the area around 7:45 p.m. on May 5 when they saw a woman leaving Cook’s home on Fairmount Drive with a red plastic cup.

The Heritage Hawks baseball team took care of business on Friday afternoon, dominating their opening-round matchup of the GIAA Class 2A state tournament with a two-game sweep over Holy Spirit Prep. As the sixth overall seed, the Hawks hosted the visiting Cougars (7-8) and left little doubt about their postseason intentions, cruising to wins of 12-1 and 11-1 to advance to the second round.
