TEMPE, AZ (AZFamily) — The City of Tempe started its city-wide street improvement project and is warning drivers of road closures and lane reductions in the near future. This $135 million project is set to improve many of the city’s arterial and neighborhood streets. Although this may cause some challenges for drivers for a while, Councilmember Nikki Amber said this is a top priority for residents. “The long-term gain absolutely makes up for the short-term problems,” Amberg said.

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Two people are in the hospital after they were injured in a shooting late Monday night in Maryvale. Police responded to the scene sometime before midnight near Coolidge Street and 67th Avenue. Police confirmed a man and a male juvenile, who were both in their teens, were injured in a shooting. Both shooting victims were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

PEORIA, AZ (AZFamily) — The City of Peoria is partnering with AMKOR Technology to build and develop a semiconductor facility near the neighborhood of Vistancia. While the City believes this $2 billion project will create thousands of jobs, residents of the Vistancia neighborhood believe it will endanger their lives. The AMKOR facility is set to be built on a 55-acre plot known as Five North in Vistancia.

ELOY, Ariz. (KPHO/Gray News) — A man in Arizona nearly lost his left hand after he was bitten by a rattlesnake. Tommy Niebrzydowski was the first rattlesnake bite case of 2025 at Banner Health in Casa Grande, Arizona. He was bit on Jan. 31 while working on his yard. Niebrzydowski said he noticed that his backyard waterfall had low water pressure and decided to check the water valve.
