    On 6 August, Aldi revealed they had performed an undercover stunt at The Royal International Horse Show in West Sussex, where attendees had the chance to indulge in the latest collection of ‘Justin Youraldi’ wines. Aldi’s fake wine merchant ‘Justin Youraldi’ tricked wine buffs into thinking that they were tasting expensive wine from the world’s most exclusive vineyards; in reality, they were sampling Aldi’s award-winning wines, some of which cost as low as £4.99.

    Aldi has released an Olympics ad, featuring its ambassador Kevin the Carrot. While Kevin has previously appeared in Aldi’s Christmas ads, this is the first time that the carrot has been featured in a summer ad. According to the creative effectiveness platform System1, Kevin the Carrot’s Christmas ads have scored a maximum Star Rating — which predicts an ad’s potential to drive long-term brand growth — of 5.9 over the last four years.

    UK advertising spend rose by 15.9% to a total of £9.6bn for the period July to September 2023, marking the first time that advertising spend in Q3 has exceeded the £9bn mark, according to data from the Advertising Association and WARC Expenditure Report. Driven predominantly by a sharp increase in online advertising, advertising spend generated higher-than-expected figures in Q3 2023.
