    STICKNEY, Ill. (WGN) — An American Legion Post in southwest suburban Stickney is crying foul, saying the Village mayor and police chief are harassing them with bogus citations and tickets in an effort to shut them down. Commander Eugene Weaver says his American Legion Post 687, near Pershing and Gunderson Avenue in Stickney, has been unfairly targeted. According to Weaver, the group is being targeted with tickets and fines for littering and excessive noise.

    CHICAGO — A Chicago firefighter was rescued after he became trapped while battling a fire on the city’s Northwest Side Friday morning. Firefighters responded to an apartment building in the 2000 block of West Thomas in the Ukrainian Village neighborhood. Firefighters on the scene said the firefighter that was rescued is conscious and appeared to be ok. He was taken to the hospital as a precaution. He has been a firefighter for about seven years.
