But Angels outfield prospect Matthew Lugo got it out of the way early, as his first Major League hit was an RBI triple in the fourth inning of a 5-2 win over the Orioles on Saturday night at Angel Stadium. He became the first Angels player to have his first big league hit be a triple since David Fletcher accomplished the feat in his debut on June 13, 2018.

ANAHEIM -- Angels star Mike Trout has progressed to swinging the bat without any issues and his next step in his recovery from a bone bruise in his left knee will be running on a treadmill and on the field. Trout, who has been out since April 30 after injuring his twice surgically repaired left knee on an awkward step on first base in Seattle, is eligible to return from the injured list on Sunday.

ANAHEIM -- The Angels made a slew of roster moves before Friday’s series opener against the Orioles, including calling up outfield prospect Matthew Lugo for the first time in his career and transferring flamethrowing reliever Ben Joyce to the 60-day injured list. Lugo, ranked as the club’s No. 13 prospect by MLB Pipeline, was called up to replace outfielder Gustavo Campero, who landed on the 10-day injured list with a left ankle inflammation sustained on a swing on Tuesday.
