When police began investigating a double killing on the South Side last week, they realized one of the dead men was a reputed gang boss suspected in two horrific slayings more than a decade ago. Adalberto “Sabu” Santiago, a member of the Spanish Cobras, was found dead Friday afternoon with a bullet in his back inside a home in the 6100 block of South Justine Street in Englewood, according to police and court records. Another man, Cesar Cervantes, was found nearby with at least four bullet wounds.

A wild shootout exposed the lack of license plate readers at O’Hare Airport, where gunmen fled in cars after wounding a self-proclaimed rapper, police sources say. “How is it that we don’t have those readers at the airport when we have them all over the city?” a police supervisor said, adding that such readers could have helped in the investigation of Wednesday morning’s shooting at O’Hare.
