    A child care facility operated by some of the University of Mary's faculty, students and licensed early childhood teachers is set to open in Bismarck next year in an effort to alleviate the shortage of licensed facilities in the area. The Center for Early Learning is scheduled to open June 1 on South Seventh Street, replacing the Butler Center near the Kirkwood Mall. Renovations are being funded through a $464,000 grant provided by the North Dakota Department of Commerce.

    Nearly $74,000 in overtime wages was recovered by the U.S. Department of Labor for 76 employees of Lasting Love Homecare LLC in North Dakota after a federal investigation determined overtime regulations were violated. The investigation found that the employer improperly classified 76 employees as exempt from overtime, according to a statement from the Department of Labor.

    The late-Tuesday downpour that turned Bismarck's streets into rivers during rush hour and flooded homes and businesses including Sanford Medical Center downtown and the Missouri Valley Family YMCA on Washington Street resulted from a slow-moving thunderstorm that swelled in size and intensity as it neared the capital city.
