In July 2024, the Welsh Government revised its guidance on setting speed limits on roads affected by the 20mph rollout and Welsh councils were asked to collect feedback from residents on roads that had changed.

(Image: Google Street View) A member of a local leisure centre has expressed anger after noticing ‘gross clumps of hair’ in the swimming pool. Mr Gary Morgan started using the pool at Barry Leisure Centre in October 2024. Despite reporting the lack of cleanliness to staff, Mr Morgan was told there was a problem with the centre’s underwater vacuum cleaner.

2 1/1 Leisure facilities across the Vale of Glamorgan have recently received a range of new upgrades. Llantwit Major Leisure Centre’s changing rooms and toilets have been fully refurbished, with new water-saving showers and low-energy lighting now in place. A new high performance, energy efficient air handling unit has also been installed at the centre, which is designed to keep the pool area and changing rooms warm and dry all year.

The Vale of Glamorgan Council has finished work on the first 10 of an additional 31 new homes at the Clos Holm View development. The homes are part of the council's ongoing house-building programme to meet the growing demand for housing in the Vale.
