Forty members of staff from the Airedale Group have together volunteered 220 hours of time to the Aire Rivers Trust. Across five sites in North and West Yorkshire, the team has taken part in a range of tasks – including maintaining 174 metres of footpaths, trimming 122 metres of hedgerow, cutting 1,000sqm of grassland, and collecting a tonne of rubbish. The effort is part of the Airedale Group's drive to become a net-zero company by 2045.

A non-statutory consultation is currently underway over Calder Wind Farm Ltd's proposals to erect dozens of turbines on Walshaw Moor, above Hebden Bridge. And as part of the consultation, an exhibition takes place at Oxenhope Community Centre this Saturday (May 17), between noon and 5pm. Initial proposals for 65 turbines, each as big as Blackpool Tower, have been scaled down to 41. But campaign group Stop Calderdale Windfarm says the battle goes on.

The event, at Airedale Opticians on Wednesday (May 14), will assess people's risk of developing age-related macular degeneration. Screening will be carried out using state-of-the-art device the Lifemeter. The technology measures carotenoid nutrient levels in less than three minutes, using a fingertip scan.

Bradford District and Craven Health and Care Partnership is joining forces with the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation for the initiative. The aim is to raise awareness of lung cancer screening. Lewis Murgatroyd admitted assaulting by beating a police officer in Keighley on August 10 last year. Murgatroyd, 22, of Bronte Street, was given a 12-week prison sentence – suspended for 18 months – by Bradford & Keighley Magistrates Court. Also, he was ordered to pay £200 compensation.
