    Almost 300 people have been killed or seriously injured by speeding drivers across Northern Ireland in recent years. From 2019 to 2023, 30 people were killed and 267 people were seriously hurt in collisions caused by speeding. According to the figures from the Department for Infrastructure, young people, aged between 16 and 24, accounted for 41% of those killed or seriously injured due to speeding in that time, while males accounted for 64%.

    Stormont minister Gordon Lyons has portrayed his attendance at his first senior GAA game as evidence of his commitment to promoting all sports in Northern Ireland. The DUP Sports Minister was welcomed to the Athletic Grounds in Armagh on Saturday afternoon for the gaelic football match between All-Ireland champions Armagh and Derry.     All U105 News & Sport Judges in the Court of Appeal rejected claims the sentencing of Co Down man Neil Beckett was unduly lenient.  Beckett, aged 44, from Kilmore Village near Crossgar, was found guilty of sexual assault and inappropriate contact with nine teenage victims he targeted while holding a position of authority. The charges against him related to seven pupils at Lagan College School in south Belfast and two Army Cadets, spanning a period between 2015 and 2023.

A judge also banned the Englishman from getting behind the wheel again for five years after declaring: “He’s lucky he didn’t kill somebody.”Whitehead, of Woodford Close in Cleveland near Middlesbrough, admitted drink driving and dangerous driving offences at Belfast Magistrates’ Court.

    All U105 News & Sport Noreen Thompson was refused leave to challenge an Investigatory Powers Tribunal (IPT) decision that her case should be dealt with by the Court of Appeal in England and Wales. Ms Thompson’s father, Francisco Notarantonio, was shot dead after UDA gunmen burst into his home in Ballymurphy, west Belfast on February 9, 1987. Amid suspicions that the security forces played a role in targeting the 66-year-old victim, no-one has ever been convicted of his killing.
