Jonathan Christopher Collyer, 28, and Lisa Ellen Stocker, 29, were arrested on February 1. Prosecutor I Made Dipa Umbara said customs officers halted them at the X-ray machine after finding suspicious items in their luggage disguised as food packages. Mr Umbara told the District Court in Denpasar that packets of Angel Delight powdered dessert mix in their luggage contained 993.56 grams of cocaine, worth an estimated six billion rupiah (£272,000).

John King was one of a small number who survived when HMS Janus was sunk during the Allied landings at Anzio, Italy, in January 1944, despite not being able to swim. He was awarded the Freedom of the Borough by Barking and Dagenham Council on his 100th birthday last November in recognition of his achievements. But his son, Alan King, has told this paper that new parking restrictions imposed by the local authority risk limiting him at the end of his life.

High Lights Festival is returning to Barking Park on June 6, 7 and 8 this year, shutting several roads in the area each evening. Between 8pm and midnight, Wilmington Gardens will be closed on both sides - except for resident access - from its junction with Rosslyn Road to its junction with Longbridge Road. Also at this time, no traffic except resident access will be allowed in Hurstbourne Gardens, between its junction with Levett Road and its junction with Longbridge Road.

Proposals have been put forward for five modular classrooms to be built at Little Heath School, near Chadwell Heath. It is the council’s dedicated special school for children aged between 11 and 18, with 236 places. The council is projecting a shortfall of 57 places by September, the start of the new school year, and the new rooms will accommodate autistic children and those with other speech and language needs.
