A popular Classic Cars and Vehicles Day is set to return this summer. The event will be held in the grounds of Banff Castle on Sunday, July 20, from 11am to 4pm. This year’s event is fully booked for exhibitors with an impressive line-up of vintage vehicles, classic cars and much-loved motors, attracting enthusiasts and visitors from across the region. Alongside the vehicles, there will be stalls, inflatables for the younger visitors and the Castle Garden Café will be open throughout the day.

Huntly’s GP practice is set to take over the surgery down the road in Rhynie. The move by Bydand Medical Group means that, from September onwards, villagers in Rhynie will once again have access to a GP every day from Monday to Friday. A joint statement from the GPs at Byland said: “We are very excited about this takeover and feel it will greatly improve the level of care provided to the practice population. “We are in the early stages of planning exactly how the practice will operate.

Student achievements took centre stage when a high school celebrated their annual prizegiving. There was pride aplenty when students, staff and parents/carers came together to mark a year of hard work, success and attainment at Milne’s High School. It was an event never to forget for Erin Shand when she was presented with the Sir Ashley Mackintosh Medal as Dux of the school. Guest speaker for the evening was former student Izzy Tiddy, who themselves won the Dux medal in 2014.

It was time for achievement in and out of the classroom to stand tall when a secondary school held its annual prizegiving. Senior students from Buckie Community High School (BCHS) were honoured at a special ceremony in Highfield Hall looking back on the outstanding achievements of the school year soon to draw to a close. It was an evening to remember for Luke Coull and Joe Sutherland who respectively won the S5 and S6 Dux Medals and Joe Mackay Awards.

Aberdeenshire Council's decision to close Clatt Primary School can now proceed, as Scottish Ministers have confirmed they will not intervene. The school near Huntly was originally mothballed in 2022 after its number of pupils dropped to only six, from a total of 18 six years earlier. This past April The council then decided that it should close.
