IgA nephropathy (IgAN) is a common form of glomerulonephritis. Its pathogenesis has been linked to aberrant O-glycosylation of the IgA1 hinge region, which is thought to underlie the formation of IgA1-containing immune complexes that deposit in glomeruli.
