CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - A former Carolina Panthers star had his latest run-in with the law this week, according to a report. CBS News reported that former Panthers defensive end Greg Hardy was arrested in Richardson, Texas on Wednesday, June 4. The arrest came after Hardy reportedly assaulted his girlfriend, leaving marks on her. CBS reported that he then allegedly took her car. The news agency said the assault followed an argument and led to Hardy putting his hands around the woman’s throat.

RALEIGH, N.C. (WBTV) - An investigator with the N.C. State Board of Elections will go to Rockingham County to investigate how decades’ worth of campaign finance reports went missing. That announcement was made Friday afternoon by NCSBE Executive Director Sam Hayes. Hayes issued a new statement one day after a WBTV investigation into the fact that campaign finance reports for Rockingham County Sheriff Sam Page are missing for any year before 2017.

First baseman and catcher Eric Jones grew up in the Queen City and went to South Meck High School and Davidson College prior to his professional baseball career. Jones was at the Bananas’ media day on Thursday, donning a Luke Kuechly jersey as he stood on the Panthers’ field and snapped some pictures on his phone.
