FINCASTLE, Va. (WDBJ) - An inmate at the Botetourt-Craig Regional Jail was pronounced dead after being found unresponsive in his cell during a security check Tuesday, according to the Botetourt County Sheriff’s Office. Late the morning of April 22, 2025, a correctional deputy conducting rounds discovered the inmate, Richard Jeffrey Sprinkel, 57, unresponsive in his single-occupancy cell, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Boyd Tavern Market & Deli kicked things off on Friday morning, April 19, with breakfast, coffee, swag bags, the iconic moose decor, and a lot of familiar faces. Melinda “Moose” Stargell and Amy Benson are co-owners of Boyd Tavern and the former owners of Moose’s by the Creek, which closed in December after 10 busy years.
