KROC-AM (Rochester,MN)

KROC (1340 kHz) is an AM radio station based in Rochester, Minnesota, specializing in news and talk programming. It was established in 1934 by Gregory Gentling under the Southern Minnesota Broadcasting Company name and began broadcasting on September 30, 1935. Gentling was also involved in various community initiatives, such as co-founding the Wm McCoy American Legion Post in 1919, creating Soldier's Field Park in 1926, and co-owning The Rochester Daily Bulletin. He played a role in arranging President Franklin D. Roosevelt's visit to Rochester in 1934 and managed multiple political campaigns in the 1920s, including those of Allen Furlow for Congress and Arthur E. Nelson for Senate. Today, KROC airs a mix of nationally syndicated talk shows along with programs featuring local hosts.
