    RENSSELAER - Longtime Rensselaer resident, man-about-town and ex-Saint Joseph's College economics professor Bob Schenk was recognized with a simple but appropriate honor by city officials earlier this month. The city had a black bike rack set into concrete near the shelter at Filson Park in memory of Schenk, who passed away at the age of 79 on March 17.

    REMINGTON - The Jasper Newton Foundation is helping the Remington Police Department collect funds to develop a K-9 program for its community this spring. Remington's goal is to bring a highly-trained police dog to assist with searches, tracking, drug detection and officer safety. "A K-9 unit strengthens our ability to respond quickly, de-escalate dangerous situations and protect both residents and officers," said Remington Town Marshal John Schuetzenhoffer.
