SPRINGFIELD - Illinois' legislative session concluded without passage of a Native American K-12 school mascot ban. Despite desire from Native Americans in Illinois, the ban on Native imagery for mascots in K-12 schools stalled in the Senate after it made its way out of the House. House Bill 1237's Senate sponsor, Sen. Suzy Glowiak Hilton, D-Western Springs, said after the bill missed a deadline earlier this session, she was still gathering a consensus from other legislators.

ORLAND - A police investigation into a possible shooting outside of Orland on Monday led to the arrest of two people, neither of whom were actually shooting any firearms, documents filed in Steuben Superior Court indicate. Billy Lee Harman, 62, Orland, was arrested on a charge of Level 4 felony unlawful possession of a firearm by a violent felon. He was taken to the Steuben County Jail where he is being held in lieu of $10,000 bail.

Franciscan Wheatfield Health Center will be offering sports physicals for students this summer on Wednesday, June 11, Wednesday, June 25 and Tuesday, July 22, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Central each day. Immunization records and any required physicals forms should be brought to the appointment. Immunizations will not be administered at the appointment. Physicals are $35, payable by check or credit card. Franciscan Wheatfield Health Center is located at 492 South Bierma Street in Wheatfield.

Franciscan first introduced WorkingWell in June 2005 as a regional initiative. Since then, the program has grown to encompass 18 WorkingWell offices in northwest Indiana, central Indiana, western Indiana and the south Chicago suburbs.
