    Questions were asked by politicians of all stripes when it was announced in March that Conservative councillor Louis Gardner had got the £70,000-a-year role. A spokesperson for the company told us: “We can confirm Louis Gardner is no longer employed in the position of head of future air and space.” They went on to clarify that he is no longer employed in any role by Corserv or Cornwall Airport Newquay, which oversees the Spaceport. We asked Corserv if Mr Gardner resigned or was sacked.

    2 1/1 The Deputy Mayor of Truro has been banned from the city’s cathedral and its grounds in a 'safeguarding briefing'. We are reporting the decision by the Diocese of Truro to bar Independent councillor Sam Rabey on the day the city council will elect the next mayor. A Diocese “safeguarding briefing” was shared among all cathedral staff and volunteers, which was leaked to the Local Democracy Reporting Service by a concerned member of the public.

    The Tregothnan Estate has requested a planning performance agreement (PPA) for up to 200 properties on two neighbouring sites at Tolgarrick, Truro – between Highertown and the Newham Trail. An environmental impact assessment has also been requested before an outline application is submitted. At the same time, there are also plans for over 100 new homes in the area behind Old County Hall.

However, a growing number of residents have shared concerns.

    48 1/1 A golden glow shone over the Evening Dance on Flora Day, when the first dancers of the day returned to finish off the event in style. The warm evening sunshine kept the crowds in Helston for the start of the dance at 5pm. It was led by the same four dancers as the Morning Dance, first leads Ben Head and Natalie Bunt, followed by Ben Autie and Caroline Spencer as second leads.
