The Providence Journal, often referred to as ProJo, is a daily newspaper that caters to the Providence, Rhode Island metropolitan area and holds the title of the largest newspaper in the state. Established in 1829, it is recognized as the oldest daily newspaper still in circulation in the United States. Over the years, it has been honored with four Pulitzer Prizes for its outstanding journalism.

A 2020 study of 43 red-tailed hawks by Tufts Wildlife Clinic found that every single one had some level of rodenticide poisoning. A representative of Big Blue Bug Solutions testified that the bill would be problematic for public health and disproportionately harm people of color.

    DHS removed its list of "sanctuary jurisdictions" after criticism from a national law enforcement group. The order alleged that listed jurisdictions obstruct federal immigration laws and endanger communities. As of June 4, Rhode Island, Providence, and Central Falls had not received formal notice of the order.
