By Kelly Crandall - Jun 24, 2025, 7:57 PM UTCChase Briscoe didn’t necessarily look like a driver who had won a NASCAR Cup Series race on Sunday at Pocono Raceway. Sure, there was hollering over his radio with the team, he did a burnout on the frontstretch and saluted the fans. And, yes, there were plenty of smiles, confetti, and liquids of all kinds in victory lane. But winning was more of a release of pressure than joy for Briscoe.

NASCAR Cup Series racing is known to produce laments over what could have been on any given Sunday. Brad Keselowski is playing the part after Pocono Raceway. Keselowski and the RFK Racing No. 6 team stumbled twice when it came to pit road, which took away an opportunity for a finish better than the 10th place they earned. It likely wasn’t going to be a winning day, but Keselowski was running in the top five when both incidents occurred.

Chase Briscoe and James Small ended up in the one place they didn’t expect to be Sunday afternoon – victory lane. The anxiety began after Briscoe made his final stop of the day at Pocono Raceway. Briscoe pitted under green on lap 120 of 160, but he left his pit stall too early and the team did not get all the fuel in his Toyota. Typically, in a situation where the team is waiting on fuel, Briscoe goes when the jack drops, but this time he was going to wait for his crew chief Small to release him.
