Corriere Della Sera

Corriere Della Sera

Corriere della Sera, pronounced [korˈrjɛːre ˈdella ˈseːra] in Italian, translates to "Evening Courier" in English. This daily newspaper is based in Milan and had an average circulation of 410,242 copies in December 2015. Established on March 5, 1876, Corriere della Sera holds the distinction of being one of Italy's longest-running newspapers. During the tenure of editor and co-owner Luigi Albertini from 1900 to 1925, it achieved a circulation exceeding 1 million. Albertini was a vocal critic of Socialism, clericalism, and Prime Minister Giovanni Giolitti, who sought to make concessions with these factions. His strong opposition to the Fascist regime ultimately led to his removal by the other co-owners in 1925.
