Journal de Montreal

Journal de Montreal

Le Journal de Montréal is a French-language tabloid newspaper that is published daily in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It holds the title of having the highest circulation of any newspaper in Quebec and is also the largest French-language daily in North America. Founded by Pierre Péladeau in 1964, the paper is owned by Quebecor Media, making it a sister publication to the TVA flagship station, CFTM-DT. Additionally, it is recognized as Canada's biggest tabloid newspaper, with its main office situated at 4545 Frontenac Street in Montreal. The newspaper focuses primarily on local and provincial news, sports, culture, and legal matters. It is particularly known for its sensationalist approach to news coverage and features columnists who are often well-known figures. Since 2013, Le Journal de Montréal has operated an investigative unit that has reported on significant issues related to Quebec's politics, business, crime, and national security. Notably, it remains the only newspaper in Montreal that continues to publish on Sundays, following the discontinuation of Sunday editions by both La Presse and The Gazette (though La Presse has an electronic edition available on Sundays through La Presse +).
