Roy V. Smith Jr., age 84, died on Tuesday, April 22, 2025. He was born on March 10, 1941. He married Norma J. Shepherdson on March 13, 1965, in Galva, Illinois. She preceded him in death on August 28, 2009. Surviving are his children: Daniel Smith, Terry Armstrong, Bill Smith, Shari Przegienda and Kenneth Smith; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren; his siblings: Lavern Smith, Dee Dewitt-Smith, Carol Dixon and Carolyn Lawson. He was an engineer with the BNSF Railroad.

He was born on June 9, 1935, in Lisbon, Iowa, the son of Chris and Jessie (Reiger) Hummel. He was raised and educated in Lisbon and Dixon, Illinois. He married Thelma G. Schafer on June 9, 1956, in Dixon, Illinois. He served in the United State Army. Surviving is his wife Thelma of Knoxville, Illinois; three children: James R.

Cindy Jo Ashby, 66, of Galesburg, Illinois, died at the University of Chicago Medical Center, Chicago on Friday May 2, 2025. Cindy was born August 2, 1958, in Quincy, Missouri, the daughter of Chester N. and Dorothy J. (Woodworth) McIntyre. Cindy graduated from Galesburg High School and Cosmetology School at Carl Sandburg College. She went on to have a long career working as a cosmetologist at J.C. Penney in Galesburg.
